New Publication: REACT to Domestic Violence

MIGS has published the results of a study that aimed to gain and share knowledge and understanding on domestic violence against women in Cyprus, as well as assess all aspects of implementation of the relevant legislation and policies on domestic violence, with a particular focus on the victim support system. The research was conducted using a gender equality perspective. (more…)

GMMP 2010: Women see modest gains in world news media portrayal

Women are still significantly underrepresented and misrepresented in news media coverage, according to Global Media Monitoring Project research in 108 countries coordinated by the World Association for Christian Communication, despite significant change since the project began 15 years ago. New Publication:XX/XY Gender Revelations

The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies [MIGS], in cooperation with Rooftop Theatre, is happy to make available the publication of the theatrical play XX/XY Gender Revelations (XX/XY Αποκαλύψεις Φύλων) , with funding received by the Cyprus Youth Board.   The play is the result of the project ‘Youth Alert: Theatre for the Promotion of Gender Equality Awareness among Young People’, funded by the EEA Financial Mechanism, the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the Republic of Cyprus and implemented by MIGS in cooperation with the Cyprus Family Planning Association and Rooftop Theatre. Project Information Leaflets: REACT to Domestic Violence

The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies (MIGS), within the framework of the project REACT to Domestic Violence: Building a Support System for Victims of Domestic Violence, has published project information leaflets outlining the aims and objectives of the project, the project activities, and information on the project partners.  The project is funded by the European Commission Daphne III Programme.  (more…)
