The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies in collaboration with the European Parliament office in Cyprus organized an interactive workshop on the role of media in promoting gender equality, on Monday 14.9.15. Journalists, media professionals, as well as representatives of the Ombudsman’s office joined the workshop.

Women are still significantly underrepresented and misrepresented in news media coverage, according to Global Media Monitoring Project research in 108 countries coordinated by the World Association for Christian Communication, despite significant change since the project began 15 years ago.

The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies, in collaboration with the Cyprus Journalists Union, organized a Gender and Media Training Workshop that took place at the Journalist House on 13 November 2009.
